Sophie Frank’s first novel, The Mattress Actress (published by Faber), was a tale of prostitution and murder in Sydney. Her second, The Window, is more chaste. Set in Norwich – where she has lived since taking an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia – it tells the story of Perpetua Clancy, a young woman who is enclosed as an anchoress in the late fourteenth century. |
